Western Hockey Showcase - Information

Fees: $329.00 + GST

Registration/Check-in: All players and Scouts.

Location: Arena/Fitness Testing: East Calgary Twin Arena / National Sports Development (Fitness Testing)

Fitness Testing: All players will go through a complete fitness evaluation.

Skill Sessions: All players will be put through a series of skill drills including: skating, shooting, and puck control to determine skill levels.

Games: All teams will play a minimum of 3 full games. (3/20 minute stop time periods).

Gold and Bronze Games:The top 34 players (18 Forwards, 12 Defence and 4 Goalies) selected by a panel will play the Gold Medal Game. The next 34 players selected (18 Forwards 12 Defence and 4 Goalies) will play in the Bronze medal game.

Player Evaluation: All players will receive comprehensive report cards on fitness testing results (individual vs. group) and on-ice skill evaluation.

WHL Seminar: The presentation will allow guest speakers from the WHL to answer any questions that your family may have about your sons future in hockey. You will be able to ask important questions, being that some very important decisions will need to be made in the near future about which direction your son will want to take. This presentation is designed to be very beneficial for both the player and parent(s), and gives you the opportunity to meet with the scouts directly. Specifically,

• Information on the WHL player environment and player development, including:
• 1. Coaching in the WHL
• 2. Facilities and training staff
• 3. The WHL as the leading supplier to the NHL
• 4. The WHL as the leading supplier to Team Canada at the World Junior Championships
• WHL Education Standards and Policies
• The WHL Scholarship Program
• Guest Speakers including: a current WHL player, a WHL alumni playing in the NHL, and a representative from a Canada West University.

Schedule:

Schedule Players will be assigned their teams at registration and an information package will accompany them inclusive of ice times, team stretch sessions and team meetings.

Once assigned a team, that will be the players team and there will be no player movement, only in the case of injuries as handled by the Showcase Directors.
